You're Folding Too Much to Small Bets (MDF Math)
You're Folding Too Much to Small Bets (MDF Math)
MDF estimates how often a range must continue to stop a bettor from profiting automatically with any two cards. It does not tell you that this specific hand must call.
Why this matters
MDF is useful because it shows how bet size changes the burden on the defender. Larger bets can profit with fewer folds, while smaller bets need more folds. But the concept operates at the range level, not as a command attached to every bluff catcher.
Real opponents deviate. Some populations under-bluff rivers; some players fire too often. A strong decision starts from the theoretical benchmark and then updates with credible evidence rather than worshipping the baseline.
Fast example
Your range may need to continue at a certain frequency against a bet, but that does not mean the bottom of your bluff-catching range is required to call against a player who almost never bluffs. Defend the right hands, against the right person.
